Between 1990 to 2013, Black student enrollment more than doubled and Hispanic student undergraduate enrollment increased by roughly 400%. We assume a proactive, preventive focus for professional psychologists, whether they work in schools, hospitals or mental health settings. They will become aware of the strengths and weaknesses of each method and understand when each method is best used. Children and adults are more comfortable, relaxed and open in their own environment, and in-home (school and childcare based) therapy – where skills are taught and modelled in the rooms of the house where they will be implemented – can be more practical and solution focused, as families are not learning skills in another environment (eg. a clinic room) and trying to work out for themselves how to apply it in the home.
